NewsIggy Pop's garden wins awardThe Iggy Pop-inspired garden has won a silver medal at the Chelsea Flower Show. As previously reported Pop's garden was created by charity The Children's Society. He said: "It's awesome the Lust For Life garden won a silver medal. It's great to know my music reaches out to so many and inspires. "I'm honoured The Children Society's garden is inspired by my music and wholeheartedly support the work they do - they rock." The garden features an arc of water that moves in rhythmic bursts to the beat of 'Lust For Life'. The garden will later be dismantled and rebuilt within one of the charities project for disadvantaged children, reports The Mirror. Akon apologises for raunchy dance Akon has apologised for performing a raunchy dance onstage with a 14 year-old girl at a concert last month in Trinidad. The singer came under fire when video footage of the dance appeared online, showing him simulating sex with the young audience member. Yesterday it was revealed that the sponsors of Gwen Stefani's tour have pulled their association as Akon was the opening act. Today Akon released a statement to the Associated Press stating he was sorry for the incident but was unaware that the girl was underage. The singer blamed the promoters at the club for allowing the girl on the premises, saying: "It was never my intention to embarrass or take advantage of my fans in any way, especially those under the age of 18. That is why we tried to make sure that the club did not admit anyone under 18 in the audience," he said. "Somehow, that standard was not met." |
